Sparks Performer of the Week - June 23-29: Azurá Stevens
Over three games last week, veteran forward-center Azurá Stevens averaged 20.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game, shooting 67.6% (23-for-34) from the field and 53.3% (8-for-15) from beyond the arc.
On Tuesday in Chicago, Stevens became the first player in WNBA history to post at least 20 points, four blocks and four steals in a contest while shooting 70.0% or better from the field, also becoming the first ever to record at least four made three-pointers, steals and blocks in the same game.
In Indianapolis on Thursday, the UConn alumna scored a game-high 23 points (9-for-12), also contributing seven rebounds, three assists and one steal. She knocked down a three and went 4-for-5 from the line in the 10-point road win.
Stevens finished her prolific week at home against the Sky Sunday with 17 points, a season-high-matching four assists and three blocks.
Last week, the veteran reached the 200-block milestone in her career and now holds sole possession of eighth on the franchise’s all-time blocks list, surpassing Tina Thompson Sunday.
Through June 30, Stevens is tied for fourth in RPG and ranks sixth in BPG, seventh in Assists Per Turnover Ratio, eighth in Steals Per Game and Efficiency Per Game and 11th in Field-Goal Percentage.
Stevens is averaging 14.6 PPG, 8.4 PPG, 1.9 APG, 1.7 SPG and 1.3 BPG, while shooting 50.8% from the floor and 38.6% from deep. The veteran leads the Sparks in win shares with 2.3.
