Dearica Hamby, Azurá Stevens Named June Sparks Co-Performers of the Month

Forward-center Azurá Stevens averaged 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 50.0% from the field in June. Meanwhile, forward Dearica Hamby averaged 15.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.7 steals for the month while shooting 53.6% from the floor.

In June, Stevens tallied 16 blocks and advanced to eighth on the Sparks’ all-time blocks list, also collecting her 1,000th career rebound during the month (June 21 in Minneapolis).

In Los Angeles’ 93-79 win in Dallas on June 6, Stevens posted 21 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals, finishing with a career-high five made threes, going 5-for-8 from deep and 8-for-11 from the field. She became the first player in WNBA history with at least 16 points, three blocks, two steals, and four three-pointers made while shooting at least 70% overall in a game.

Against the Sky on June 24, Stevens became the first player in WNBA history to post at least 20 points, 4 blocks and 4 steals in a contest while shooting 70.0% or better from the field, also becoming the first ever to record 4 made three-pointers, 4 blocks, and 4 steals in the same game. The veteran also reached the 200-block career milestone during this contest.

Through June 30, Stevens is tied for fourth in rebounding (8.4 RPG), ranks sixth in blocks (1.3 BPG), ranks eighth in steals (1.7 SPG), ranks seventh in assists per turnover ratio, and ranks 11th in field-goal percentage (50.8%).

Against the Lynx on June 21, Hamby reached the 3,500-point mark in her WNBA career and tallied 13 points (5-for-9 FG, 3-for-3 FT), six rebounds, four steals and two assists in the game.

Hamby tallied her 600th assist of her WNBA career in June 24 in Chicago where she had 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

The 11th-year veteran produced her best field-goal shooting percentage of the month on June 6 in a win against Dallas, going 8-12 (66.7%) from the field and pouring in 20 points.

During L.A.’s win over the Fever June 26, Hamby climbed to seventh on the Sparks’ all-time defensive rebounds list. She totaled 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in the contest.

The three-time WNBA All-Star ranks second in the league this season in steals per game (1.9), is tied for fourth in offensive rebounds per game and stands seventh with a 52.2 FG% and 10th in rebounding (7.8 RPG).
