Wubble Rewind: The Best of Seimone Augustus

“Just play your game, calm down, do what we need you to do on this team to win.”

The 15-year veteran stepped up throughout the season and played whatever role was needed for her team. Augustus finished the 2020 WNBA season averaging 5.9 points, 1.2 assists, and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 49.1% from the field and 54.5% from outside in just under 16 minutes of play. The guard had her second highest three-point shooting percentage since her 2009 season.

Augustus was a new face to the Sparks this season after being traded from the Minnesota Lynx, where she was drafted to in 2006. ‘Money Mone’ led her team in three-point shooting percentage and was top 10 in the league in assists to turnover ratio. She prided herself in being a leader off the bench and mentoring her teammates, especially younger guards.

When asked about Seimone, Chelsea Gray stated, “She brings the experience and the leadership role. It’s been great. She’s been telling us what we need to hear, not always will we like to hear but what we need to hear at that moment.”

The Veteran’s most notable game this past season came on July 25th against the Phoenix Mercury. Augustus had a perfect scoring game, going 6-6 from the field and 2-2 form three, finishing with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. The Sparks went on to win their season opener 99-76.

Augustus finished her first season with the Sparks with season highs of 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
