Sparks Waive Yang Liwei

LOS ANGELES (May 17, 2023) – The Los Angeles Sparks announced today that Yang Liwei has been waived.

Yang appeared in two preseason games for the Sparks, where she averaged six points, three rebounds, and two assists in 16 minutes per game.

Yang averaged 9.3 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 rebounds in eight games in the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup. She shot 46.5% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc to help the team earn a silver medal finish.

The Sparks tip-off the 2023 WNBA season on May 19 at Crypto.com Arena against the Phoenix Mercury at 8 pm PT on ESPN.
