Sparks Sign Karlie Samuelson

Los Angeles, CA (June 24, 2018)—The Los Angeles Sparks signed guard Karlie Samuelson on Sunday for the remainder of the season. Samuelson played the first four games with the Sparks, but was released when center Jantel Lavender returned from her overseas commitments. In four games, Samuelson averaged 3.5 points per game and shot 40 percent from 3-point range.

“We’re really excited to bring Karlie back into the fold” Sparks General Manager and Executive Vice President Penny Toler said. “Karlie showed she can play at the WNBA level with her ability to shoot from the perimeter. She will immediately add value to our team.”

Samuelson played collegiately at Stanford University and was invited to the Sparks camp in 2017 before suffering an injury. She returned to the Sparks camp in 2018 after playing for Vigarano in Italy and earned a spot on the Sparks opening day roster. She is also a member of Great Britain’s national team.

Samuelson is active for Sunday’s game against the New York Liberty at 2 PST at Staples Center. The move brings the Sparks roster to 12 players.
