Sparks Re-Sign Riquna Williams

LOS ANGELES  The Los Angeles Sparks re-signed guard Riquna Williams, Sparks Executive Vice President and General Manager Penny Toler announced today. This offseason, Williams played for the Turkish club Hatay where she averaged 18.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 37 percent on 3-pointers in Euroleague play.

Williams was first acquired by the Sparks in a 2016 offseason trade with the Dallas Wings. Last season, Williams played in 33 games and averaged 7.1 points per game while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range. She started in both playoff games and scored 17 points in the Sparks first round win over the Minnesota Lynx.

On Sept. 8, 2013, Williams set the then-record for most points in a single game when she scored 51 against San Antonio. For her career, Williams has averaged 10.8 points per game and has been named an All-Star (2015), Sixth Woman of the Year (2013) and was a member of the All-Rookie Team (2012).

Williams attended the University of Miami as was drafted by the Tulsa Shock in 2012 with the 17th overall pick.
