Sparks Also Sign Dominique McBryde to Training Camp Contract
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Sparks selected 6-foot-4 forward Beatrice Mompremier from the University of Miami with the 20th pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft. Mompremier averaged a double-double during her junior year with 16.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, shooting 53% from the field. During her senior season she averaged 16.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game before her season was cut short due to a foot injury. She was an Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention. Mompremier transferred to the University of Miami from Baylor University after her sophomore season, returning to play in her hometown.
With the 22nd pick in the draft, the Sparks selected Leonie Fiebich from Germany. The 20-year-old Fiebich, a 6-foot-4 wing player, is one of the top international prospects. Fiebich currently plays for Wasserburg and is a member of the German National Team, where she’s played alongside Sparks center Marie Gulich and No. 2 overall pick Satou Sabally.
With the 34th pick, the Sparks selected 5-foot-10 guard Tynice Martin from West Virginia University. For her career she averaged 15.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She was an All-Big 12 selection all four seasons at WVU.
The Sparks also signed 6-foot-1 forward Dominique McBryde from the University of Arizona to a training camp contract. McBryde shot 51% from the field and 40% on 3-pointers her senior year.
The Sparks are coming off a 2020 free agency period in which the team signed two-time champion Kristi Toliver, four-time champion Seimone Augustus, re-signed 2019 First Team All-WNBA point guard Chelsea Gray and re-signed Tierra Ruffin-Pratt. The team also acquired Brittney Sykes and Marie Gulich in a trade with the Atlanta Dream, and extended center Maria Vadeeva.
