Sparks Announce 2022 Opening Night Roster
Sparks Open Season May 6 at Chicago Sky
LOS ANGELES (May 5, 2022) – The Los Angeles Sparks, led by General Manager/Head Coach Derek Fisher, announced today their final roster for the 2022 WNBA season.
The Sparks final roster returns five players from the 2021 roster, including 2016 MVP and WNBA champion Nneka Ogwumike and two-time WNBA Champion Kristi Toliver. Also returning is 2021 First-team All-Defensive selection Brittney Sykes, two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike, and the 2021 No. 7 overall pick Jasmine Walker.
The newest additions are highlighted by four-time WNBA All-Star Liz Cambage, 2020 WNBA All-Rookie selection Chennedy Carter, two-time WNBA Champion Jordin Canada, and Orange County native Katie Lou Samuelson.
In addition, the final roster features three rookies: No. 9 overall pick Rae Burrell, No. 19 overall pick Olivia Nelson-Ododa, and No. 27 overall pick Amy Atwell.
Center Amanda Zahui B. was placed on the full season suspension list.
The Sparks open the regular season on a four-game road trip beginning May 6 against the defending champion Chicago Sky. Sparks fans will get their first chance to see the final roster at Crypto.com Arena on May 17 for the Home Opener against the Minnesota Lynx at 7:30 p.m PT.
