Postgame Quotes:

Head Coach Lynne Roberts

On Kelsey Plum’s competitive nature:

"She's competitive as hell, and what she's done for our organization has been remarkable in terms of validation and everything else. The players we got in free agency, KP played a big role in that because she's a competitor in that space too. She said it at the end, she just wants to keep getting better, and that's real. I personally don't think she gets talked about enough in the best-player or MVP conversations. For whatever reason, she doesn't get enough recognition, and that's kind of an injustice. She's fun to coach."

On finding their flow:

“We’re adding three All-Stars to our team. It’s going to take a minute for us to figure out, for me to figure out, all of us [...], what works , what doesn’t, and [...] Rae [Burrell]’s a starter in this league, but we needed to have Ariel [Atkins] on the floor defensively. You saw it tonight [...], she’s just so tough defensively. Having E[rica Wheeler] at the one allows [Kelsey Plum] to get off ball a little bit, open things up for her, and then bring the punch off the bench with Rae [Burrell] [...], that’s [...] the thinking, but these things are fluid and [...] Rae I thought was huge, hit some big shots, got a huge defensive rebound there down the stretch, so everybody contributed.”

Erica Wheeler

On her impact Saturday:

“When [Kelsey]’s on a heater, I’m running to the corner, don’t even look at me, don’t even pass me the ball, stay on the heater. So, I think that’s the balance of it. [...] Like Coach said, just having her off the ball, me being able to create and get my teammates involved has been tremendous."

Kelsey Plum

On her elite scoring:

“I’m just trying to go out and be super-patient and really take what the defense gives and [...] let it come. I think that [...] when you get to a point in the league, you’ve [...] seen a lot of different coverages, so I’m just trying to be patient and trust, and [...] I really appreciate that Coach has a lot of trust in me, and my teammates trust me to make decisions, and [...] as the offseason went, I was just trying to be super-intentional about working on certain aspects of my game at Unrivaled and [...] just want to get better. I want to get better every year. I want to come back every year better, and [...] I think it’s one thing to score, but my biggest thing this year is just efficiency. [...] We need me to score the ball a lot, but hopefully as the season goes on, you actually see me scoring a little bit less, and [...] tonight we have [...] six people in double figures, and that’s how you win in this league.”
