The Los Angeles Sparks announced today that the team has signed guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (Jack-Uh-Lan-Guh, Mwen-In-Tawn-Duh) to a WNBA Player Development contract.

“Ndjakalenga is a versatile young player who brings size, athleticism and experience competing at a high level,” said Nate Nielsen, Sparks Assistant General Manager. “We’re excited to bring her into our environment and provide an opportunity for her to continue developing within our organization.”

Mwenentanda began the 2026 season with the Golden State Valkyries, initially signing a training camp contract before joining the team on a replacement contract. The 6-foot-2 guard appeared in five regular-season games for Golden State.

Prior to entering the WNBA, Mwenentanda played her final collegiate season at Vanderbilt, starting all 34 games and averaging a career-best 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 47.2% from the field. She helped lead the Commodores to a 29-5 record and the program’s first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 17 years.

Mwenentanda spent her first three collegiate seasons at Texas, appearing in 103 games with 18 starts. As a junior, she helped the Longhorns reach the 2025 NCAA Final Four, averaging 9.0 points while shooting 59.3% from the field during the NCAA Tournament. She scored a career-high 19 points in Texas’ second-round victory over Illinois.

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mwenentanda was named the 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year in South Dakota and participated in the 2022 Jordan Brand Classic. She graduated from Texas in three years with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
