Los Angeles to matchup with Seattle and Phoenix before regular season play
LOS ANGELES (March 20, 2023) – The Los Angeles Sparks announced today two preseason matchups for the 2023 season.
Los Angeles will travel to Phoenix to take on Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi and the Mercury on Friday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m. PT at Footprint Center.
Additionally, the Sparks will host a closed scrimmage against the Seattle Storm on Sunday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. PT at Loyola Marymount University. This game will be closed to the general public. Information regarding media guidelines and credentials will be sent at a later date.
The Sparks will tip-off the 2023 regular season at Crypto.com Arena on May 19 against the Phoenix Mercury at 8:00 p.m. PT. The Sparks return six players from the 2022 roster, including seven-time All-Star and WNBA Champion Nneka Ogwumike, two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike and WNBA Champion Lexie Brown. They will join a strong class of free agency acquisitions for Los Angeles, highlighted by five-time All-Defensive Team guard Jasmine Thomas, 2022 WNBA Champion and two-time All-Star Dearica Hamby and 2020 WNBA Champion Azurá Stevens.
