The Sparks face the Dream in Atlanta again, just two days after the hosts prevailed, 86-75. The Sparks’ playoff hopes remain alive, and they hold the tiebreaker against the Fever and the Storm.

Los Angeles fell despite leading by as many as 10 points. Dearica Hamby led the way for L.A., notching 21 points, while Kelsey Plum added 18 points and seven assists. Rickea Jackson also poured in 15.

The Sparks rank second in points per game and field-goal percentage, just behind top-seeded Minnesota in each, and third in three-point percentage.

Dream:

With Wednesday’s win over Los Angeles, Atlanta took sole possession of the No. 2 seed with a week left of the regular season. However, the Aces and Mercury each play Thursday and can tie the Dream in the standings. Atlanta's winning efforts were spearheaded by Rhyne Howard, who recorded 19 points, and Brionna Jones, who finished with a double-double — 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Dream continue to lead the league in rebounds per game (36.5).

The History: Sparks vs. Dream

The Dream host the Sparks at College Park Arena for the second time in three nights, the 46th matchup between the teams. Los Angeles trails the all-time series, 25-20, with Atlanta victorious in the past five contests.

Dearica Hamby accounted for a game-high 21 points on 10-for-17 shooting, nine rebounds and four assists in the Sparks’ first time seeing the Dream since May 27. Hamby has made a bulletproof case for All-WNBA selection, averaging 18.3 PPG and 8.0 RPG overall this season and 20.8 PPG and 9.4 RPG over the last five games. She is the only player in the WNBA this season aside from MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier who ranks Top 10 in PPG, RPG, SPG and FG%.

Kelsey Plum also performed well Wednesday, adding 18 points (5-for-11 FG), a game-high seven assists and two steals. The four-time All-Star broke the franchise single-season assists record, surpassing Wednesday’s opponent Jordin Canada. Plum averages 19.9 points per game and 5.9 assists per game this season.

Dream:

Rhyne Howard stepped up in Allisha Gray’s absence on Wednesday, leading Atlanta’s charge with 19 points and five assists. Howard shot 53.8% from the field and finished with a +14 rating. The Dream will again be without Gray Friday.

Brionna Jones finished with a double-double 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds against Los Angeles. The former Sixth Woman of the Year has been consistent in the Dream’s last five games, finishing four with 16 or more points and posting back-to-back double-doubles.
