Los Angeles Sparks Sign Mikaela Ruef to Training Camp Contract

LOS ANGELES, CA – March 13, 2017 – Penny Toler, Los Angeles Sparks’ Executive Vice President and General Manager, today announced the signing of free agent post player Mikaela Ruef to a training camp contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Mikaela is a talented young post player that can stretch the defense,” said Penny Toler, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Sparks. “She has continued to improve her skills overseas every year and I’m looking forward to seeing her in training camp.”

Ruef is a 6-foot-3 forward and was picked 31st overall in the third round of the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She has played the last three years in Australia and is currently there playing for the Canberra Capitals averaging 12.4 ppg and 11.0 rpg through 24 games.  A 2014 graduate of Stanford University, Mikaela played for the Stanford Cardinals alongside WNBA MVP and Los Angeles Sparks forward, Nneka Ogwumike.

The 2017 Sparks regular season will tip-off May 13 at 2pm, presented by EquiTrust. The home opener will feature the Championship Ring Ceremony.
