Sparks Hire Latricia Trammell as Assistant Coach

LOS ANGELES, CA (Jan. 22, 2019) Sparks Executive Vice President and General Manager Penny Toler announced today the hiring of Latricia Trammell as assistant coach. Trammell served as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Stars in 2017 and has 24 years of coaching experience. She now joins the coaching staff led by Sparks head coach Derek Fisher.

“I’m thrilled to have Latricia join the Sparks family,” Fisher said. “Latricia has a proven track record of developing players and winning titles at several levels of women’s basketball. Her expertise will be instrumental to the Sparks.”

Trammell guided Oklahoma City University to two NAIA Division I women’s basketball national championships in 2014 and 2015. In her three seasons with the program, she compiled a record of 85-10. Trammell was also the head coach of Western State (Colo.) for five seasons and has had several NCAA Division I assistant jobs.

“I want to thank Penny Toler and Derek Fisher for this incredible opportunity,” Trammell said. “I’m truly honored and blessed to be working alongside the best in the business. The LA Sparks family sets the standard for excellence, and I look forward to working with Coach Fisher and the team toward winning a WNBA Championship.”

Trammell attended East Central University and is from Seminole, Oklahoma.
