Los Angeles Sparks Sign Forward Rae Burrell to Hardship Contract   

LOS ANGELES (June 17, 2023) – The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the signing of Rae Burrell to a hardship contract. This is Burrell’s second stint with the Sparks this season. She signed a hardship contract with the club on May 27, appearing in one game, scoring five points and grabbing four rebounds in 15 minutes.

The Las Vegas native was drafted 9th overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She appeared in three games for the Sparks in 2022 before undergoing season ending knee surgery. She was waived on May 16, 2023 during training camp.

Burrell attended the University of Tennessee for all four years of her collegiate career. In her breakout junior season, she averaged 16.8 points per game, shooting 45.8% on field goals and 82% from the free throw line.
