The Los Angeles Sparks spent the 2017-2018 offseason working hard to #SparkTheCommunity by helping out and building relationships with a diverse group of Los Angelenos across the city.
Boo! In an effort to combat blood donation scarcity, the members of the Sparks Front Office participated in a Halloween blood drive that benefited the American Red Cross. The Red Cross serves nearly 10 million people in Los Angeles County, and the Sparks were excited to contribute to the local community.
Happy Thanksgiving! Alongside some of their valued season ticket members, the entire Sparks Front Office volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in an effort to help combat food insecurity. The Sparks packaged over 12,000 pounds of food which went on to help feed 10,000 families within our local communities!
Happy Holidays! The Sparks, in partnership with Salvation Army and the Los Angeles DPSS, hosted a holiday party for four families affected by unemployment and domestic violence and one family whose home was completely destroyed during the recent southern California winter wildfires. In addition to joining in on the celebratory festivities, the five families also took home a host of different gifts!
Happy New Year! The Sparks Front Office opened its doors to eight high school girls for a full day of professional mentorship and career development. The girls learned the different ways in which a basketball organization’s Front Office operates, how professional sports teams scout players, and also had a chance to work on their public speaking skills via a cold call activity led by the Ticket Sales department.
It’s Cookie Time! Member of the Sparks Front Office spent a day helping out at the Girl Scouts Los Angeles Headquarters by working to distribute cookie boxes to local troops in the area. The Sparks led, in partnership with EquiTrust, a financial literacy workshop for underprivileged youth in the Los Angeles.
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! In honor of of National Read Across America Day, Sparky and the entire Sparks office crew volunteered their time to read to local elementary school classrooms in Los Angeles.
Happy Earth Day! To help promote a cleaner Earth and a greener future, the Sparks Front Office partnered with the California Department of Transportation’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. The team spent the day cleaning up several areas around the 105 Freeway in Watts. The Sparks also hosted their 2018 #All4HER welcome event for new We Are Women Ambassadors.
