For the seventeenth time in 21 years of existence, the Los Angeles Sparks have made the playoffs. The most out of any other team in the WNBA, the Sparks have a chance to make it two championships in a row after Nneka Ogwumike clinched it for the Sparks with seconds to go in Game 5 of the 2016 WNBA Finals. This season, MVPs Candace Parker, and Ogwumike, have led the way with Parker being named Player of the Week three times this season. The team returns with a similar core of players from last year with a few new faces but a renewed vigor from contenders like the Minnesota Lynx will make the road difficult for Los Angeles.
There are still a few home games left in the season, including a possible preview of this year’s WNBA Finals when the Lynx visit Los Angeles, August 27, for our #WeAreWomen game. #WeAreWomen is our biggest community effort to bring awareness to women empowerment for all ages.
