The 2018 Los Angeles Sparks season was absolutely amazing. Although the team came up short, the season was filled with memorable experiences and performances as well as a number of “first-time” moments for players as well as the organization.

Gray has a knack for game-winners. In the 2017 WNBA Finals, Gray also hit a game-winner against the Minnesota Lynx.
Ballin’ On The Beach
The Los Angeles Sparks held their first-ever, all-girls youth basketball tournament known as “Ballin’ On the Beach” at the basketball courts at the world famous Venice Beach. More than 300 girls participated in the 3-on-3 tournament. A Jr. NBA Clinic was also held.
Dance Crew Tryouts at Universal Citywalk
The Los Angeles Sparks have three amazing dance crews: SparKids, SparksCrew, and the Ole’ Skool Krew. Tryouts were held at the artist stage at Universal Citywalk where visitors got to see a preview of some of the most talented dancers in southern California.
Candace Parker Hits Milestones
Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Parker had quite the 2018 season. Parker reached 5,000 career points and 2,500 rebounds. She also came close to several triple-double performances and had stat lines never recorded before in the WNBA.
T-Boz Stops By For Take-Me-Back-Tuesday
Singer/songwriter/producer/philanthropist and now author, T-Boz of the R&B group TLC, came by to sign copies of her new book, A Sick Life: TLC ‘n Me: Stories from On and Off the Stage, and check out all the 90’s themed festivities.
Mental Health Awareness Night June 24 vs. New York Liberty
The Los Angeles Sparks held their first-ever, Mental Health Awareness Night, to shed light on the growing topic. Before the game, an on-court meditation and yoga session were held before the game followed by a discussion panel. LA-based radio station, Power 106, came out and hosted the event.
The Emergence of Chelsea Gray
Chelsea Gray already set the tone for the season with a game-winner at the season-opener but Gray also hit a new career-high in points and was a go-to player late in games. Gray made another All-Star Team this season so expect her to continue her growth and progression into one of the best players in the league.
Overtime Thriller in Seattle
Entering their matchup against Seattle on July 10, the Sparks had lost three-in-a-row and five of their last six. Los Angeles was facing a tough test against the top-ranked Storm but the Sparks battled and came away with the win.
Athlete and Celebrity Appearances
Sparks games are always filled with various athletes and celebrities. NBA players continued to come out and support their WNBA counterparts and even U.S. Olympians came out to support. The one appearance that maybe got the loudest reaction had to be Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade. The talented actress and NBA icon make it a priority to watch their Sparks every season.
